    Margaret

    CREATIVE DIRECTOR

    Margaret founded Soulful to help nonprofits and community organizations use the power of video to raise awareness, inspire donors, and strengthen fundraising results. Many of our partners have seen growth in support and grant opportunities after launching their video campaigns. Margaret’s earlier experience writing success stories for a Women’s Business Center shaped her understanding of how authentic storytelling can move people to take action. She now brings that same empathy and strategy to every project, ensuring each video captures the heart of an organization’s mission and impact.

    Ivan

    PHOTOGRAPHER

    Ivan is a production lead at Soulful, where he manages marketing, technical production, and filming. With a master’s degree in engineering, Ivan blends creative vision with strong technical expertise. His engineering background enhances every production, allowing for efficient setups that serve both artistic and practical goals. Ivan’s attention to detail and calm approach on set help nonprofits feel supported throughout the process.     VIDEOGRAPHER

    Nick specializes in branded content and advertising campaigns for local companies and community-focused organizations. His career began with documentary filmmaking on global expeditions, collaborating with eco brands and research teams to tell stories rooted in nature and culture. Today, Nick brings that same documentary sensibility to his commercial work, capturing authentic human experiences that connect audiences to a brand’s purpose.     CINEMATOGRAPHER

    Julie brings heart, precision, and visual depth to every story at Soulful. She fell in love with the collaborative energy of filmmaking early on and built her career through hands-on experience, guided by mentors and crews who shaped her eye and approach. As a Director of Photography, Julie’s work has earned recognition at regional festivals, including an Honorable Mention for Best Cinematography at the Portland 48-Hour Film Festival. A single mom, she’s learned to meet challenges with patience and grit, qualities that infuse her storytelling with empathy and authenticity. Her cinematography reflects a deep appreciation for connection, resilience, and the beauty found in everyday moments.

  • Our team and collaborators are inspired by the nonprofit stories we work on and are willing to go above and beyond because they see our dedication and integrity. Many choose to support projects at reduced rates because they believe in the mission and feel respected and valued.

    Our nonprofit clients also consistently express appreciation for our commitment to making high-quality video accessible, especially in a challenging economic climate. They value and see the impact of our work in educating the community and bringing greater visibility and support to their mission.

  • We see our team, clients, and partners as friends and extended family, and we make business decisions with their well-being in mind.

    For clients, this often means being flexible when they are overwhelmed. We can meet on weekends or late evenings, and we can provide additional value beyond the original package when something is important to them to include in the video but their budget is limited.

    For our team, we show empathy by being flexible and supportive when life happens. If someone needs payment earlier than the contract timeline, we make exceptions and send payment in advance to help. When contractors are overwhelmed with other projects, we step in to help with production support.

  • As a business that works with local independent contractors, we are intentional about fair and sustainable compensation. We stay informed about industry trends and economic changes, but we also take a human approach.

    Rather than setting ultimatums, we ask contractors what they believe is fair compensation for each project and listen to their input, because we want them to feel valued, respected, and fairly compensated for their expertise and work.

At Soulful Production, sustainability means making intentional choices that reduce our environmental footprint while amplifying social good. We minimize waste through digital workflows, reduce travel and resource use through thoughtful planning, and choose equipment and partners that value efficiency and responsibility. We regularly check in on how we’re doing, set realistic goals, and adjust our practices as we learn. Through our work with mission-driven clients and nonprofits, we aim to produce videos that tell powerful stories while respecting both the planet and the communities we serve.
